Research, not claimed hands-on testing
We review manufacturer documentation, retailer listings, product instructions, and relevant independent guidance. We do not claim that we personally tested a product. Where a specification comes from a retailer, it is a published claim—not independently measured performance. Sources are linked in each guide.
A framework tailored to the category
Each comparison names its criteria and their weights. Our anti-bark guide uses Effectiveness (30%), Humane & Safe (25%), Ease of Use (15%), Versatility (15%), and Value (15%). These criteria assess published capabilities and practical trade-offs. They do not establish veterinary safety or guarantee behavioral outcomes.
How the scores work
Each criterion receives an editorial assessment from 0 to 10. We multiply that assessment by its weight, add the results, and round to one decimal place. Scores express our judgment of the available information, not laboratory measurements, customer star ratings, or statistically proven success rates. Small differences should not be overinterpreted.
What “Best Overall” means
The badge identifies our editorial recommendation within the products and criteria shown, not the best product on the entire market. Other badges describe a particular use case. A recommendation may not suit your needs, and every review includes meaningful limitations. Wrong-category products and unresolved links are excluded from scoring and recommendations.
Affiliate relationships and independence
We may earn a commission when you buy through our links. This doesn't affect our rankings. Retailers handle orders, pricing, shipping, and returns. Affiliate relationships are disclosed near buying links and in our footer. We do not display Amazon prices or customer star ratings.
Updates and corrections
Each guide displays its last updated date. We review published information when a guide is revised, but availability, specifications, and retailer terms may change afterward. Verify the exact model and current details at the retailer. Contact details for correction requests will be published on our Contact page.
